Ask a room of bail agents when their license expires and most will give you a season, not a date. That works fine until the year it does not. Look It Up on the CDI Website
- Go to the CDI’s Check a License tool.
- Search by your license number if you have it, or by your name.
- Open your record and find the expiration date.
That date is the last day of the month shown, which is how California bail licenses are issued: two-year terms ending on the final day of a month.
While you are in there, confirm two other things: that your license status shows active, and that your mailing address and email on file are current. The CDI sends notices to whatever is on file, and an old address is one of the most common reasons agents get surprised.
Now Work Backwards From That Date
A renewal has two parts, and both take time: the 12 hours of continuing education, and the renewal application with the CDI. Build your timeline from the expiration date backwards:
